The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has assured candidates that the verification of certificates for the 2023 admissions process is still ongoing. This comes in response to concerns raised by a student on social media (username hersan_2) who alleges their university is withholding clearance due to a pending JAMB admission letter and Certificate of Acceptance of Place (CAPS) status stuck on “Awaiting Verification (AIP)” for two months.

While JAMB’s official Twitter account (@JAMBHQ) confirmed the ongoing verification process, the exact timeframe for completion remains unclear. The news of delayed verification coincides with reports of over 10,000 Direct Entry (DE) students facing admission suspension due to institutions failing to respond to JAMB’s verification requests.

This situation has caused anxiety for students like hersan_2, who have already received university admission but are unable to proceed with registration due to JAMB-related delays. JAMB is yet to address how it plans to expedite verification for affected students or ensure universities consider such cases while the process continues.

Candidates seeking updates on their verification status are advised to:

  • Regularly check their JAMB portal for updates.
  • Contact their respective institutions for further information on the clearance process.

JAMB has not yet responded publicly to hersan_2’s specific situation. This article will be updated with any further developments from JAMB or the student.
