Canada is usually a preferred destination for many international schools that are seeking quality education. International students applying for a student visa to study Canada must check if they are eligible to come to Canada.

The country offers great benefits and advantages for its students, for instance; Canada permits its students to work while studying even without a work permit, you can work after you graduate, and it becomes easier to apply for permanent residency in Canada.

 

But then, before you are allowed to enter Canada for studies, you must have some essential documents in your possession. These documents are what you are required to provide before you apply for a student visa to study in Canada.

Acceptance Letter

An acceptance letter from a designated learning institution (DLI) is the first item every student must obtain before applying. One of the first requirements that makes a student eligible for a student visa is the acceptance letter obtained from a school in Canada. The school must have the permission of the Federal government to accept international students, this makes the institution a DLI.

A Study Permit

The study permit is authorization to international students to study in Canada as a student of any Designated Learning Institute.

In other words, to qualify for a study permit, students must show; their letter of acceptance, provide proof of funding, proof of identity, etc.

Proof of Identity

Candidates applying to study abroad must provide genuine and valid proof of identity preferably from the government of your home country. This would help the Canadian embassy to easily identify you and your country of origin.

Proof of Funds

Before you can be issued a study permit you must prove that you have the money to sponsor your education. You must provide proof such as bank statements, paid tuition fee or students loan from a bank. The funds must be sufficient enough to cover tuition, housing, transport, and other living expenses.

Health Insurance

Students must also provide health coverage that runs for at least a year while studying in Canada. Many schools in Canada take the insurance coverage from the fees paid by international students.
