Are you planning to apply for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination for the 2024/2025 academic session? If yes, then you need to read this article carefully before you proceed.

JAMB is the body that conducts the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for candidates seeking admission into various tertiary institutions in Nigeria. The UTME is a computer-based test that covers four subjects, chosen by the candidate from a list of 23 subjects.

However, before you apply for the UTME, there are some important things you need to know and do. These include:

  • Check the admission requirements of your preferred institution and course. Different institutions and courses have different admission requirements, such as the minimum UTME score, the required O’level subjects and grades, and the post-UTME screening process. You need to ensure that you meet these requirements before you apply for the UTME, otherwise you may waste your time and money.

Choose your UTME subjects wisely. The four subjects you choose for the UTME should be relevant to your preferred course and institution. You should also choose subjects that you are good at and have prepared well for. You can use the JAMB syllabus for the 2024 examination to guide you on the topics and objectives of each subject.

  • Register for the UTME online. The registration for the UTME is done online, through the JAMB portal. You will need to create a profile, pay the registration fee, and choose your preferred examination date, time, and center. You will also need to upload your passport photograph, biometric data, and O’level results. You should do this as early as possible, to avoid any delays or issues.
  • Prepare well for the UTME. The UTME is a competitive and challenging examination, that requires adequate preparation. You should study hard, practice with past questions and mock tests, and revise your notes. You should also familiarize yourself with the computer-based test format, and follow the instructions and rules of the examination.

By following these steps, you will increase your chances of scoring high in the UTME, and securing admission into your desired institution and course. Don’t apply for the JAMB 2024/2025 until you have done these things. Good luck!
