The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced important guidelines for the upcoming 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The exam will be conducted across over 700 Computer Based Test (CBT) centers nationwide from Friday, April 19th to Monday, April 29th, 2024.

To ensure a smooth examination process and prevent cheating, JAMB has banned several items from the exam hall. These include smart watches, any eyeglasses that are not prescribed by a doctor (including contact lenses), calculators, smart rings, pens (presumably referring to smart pens), bluetooth devices, and flash drives. JAMB has a zero-tolerance policy for examination malpractice and any practices that could compromise the integrity of the exams.

JAMB has registered a total of 1,985,642 candidates for the 2024 UTME. All candidates are advised to take some key steps in preparation for the exam. They should print their UTME notification slips to confirm their exam center, date, and time. It is crucial to carefully review the examination guidelines and etiquettes outlined in the notification slips. Candidates must arrive at the exam venue on time to allow for biometric verification before entering the hall. Being late is strictly prohibited – any candidate arriving 30 minutes after their scheduled exam time will be marked absent.

JAMB also has important information for parents. The board strictly prohibits parents from waiting around the examination premises during the UTME. Any candidate found with a parent in the vicinity may face penalties.

These measures highlight JAMB’s commitment to conducting a fair and credible UTME. By ensuring a level playing field for all candidates, JAMB aims to select the most deserving individuals for admission into Nigerian universities.
