The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reiterated its policy that candidates applying for Direct Entry (DE) admission cannot use the “awaiting result” option. This clarification comes after a Twitter user, Emeka (@Onyeife_), inquired about the possibility of applying for DE with his National Diploma (ND) results pending until May 2024.

JAMB’s official account (@JAMBHQ) responded on March 2nd, stating in a clear and concise message: “Awaiting result isn’t permitted for DE application.” This reaffirms the board’s existing policy, ensuring a fair and consistent application process for all DE candidates.

It’s crucial for aspiring DE applicants to be aware of this policy before initiating their application process. JAMB requires all DE candidates to possess and upload their qualifying certificates, such as A’level results from IJMB, JUPEB, NABTEB, or other recognized institutions, at the time of application. This ensures transparency and streamlines the admission process for both candidates and institutions.

Therefore, candidates like Emeka in this scenario would need to wait until their ND results are officially released and available for upload through JAMB’s platform before submitting their DE application.
