Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has announced the distribution of 6,500 free JAMB UTME forms to secondary school students in the state. The initiative aims to increase access to tertiary education for Kano indigenes.
In a tweet late on Monday, Governor Yusuf said the distribution signifies the government’s unwavering commitment to investing in the future of its children. “[This gesture] is a symbol of our government’s unwavering commitment to investing in the future of our children,” he wrote.
This distribution is part of a larger focus on education by the Kano State government. In the last ten months, the government has undertaken several initiatives to develop the educational sector. These include:
- Re-introducing foreign scholarships for deserving graduates
- Paying registration fees for Kano students in tertiary institutions
- Re-opening 21 skills acquisition institutes
Governor Yusuf also expressed his appreciation to JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, the Kano State Ministry of Education, and all stakeholders who contributed to the success of the free JAMB form distribution.
